Gina has successfully designed, funded and led a number of independent music and singing projects.
In 2005 Gina founded her own company, Runaway Opera. This company was dedicated to making opera more accessible to local communities and giving young singers a performance platform at the start of their careers. Runaway Opera also ran educational workshops for children aged 6-14 years which included a mixture of singing, drama and art activities. Past workshops centred around Handel’s opera Julius Caesar and Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel.
Gina has also designed and run a series of singing workshops for children with Special Educational Needs at Centre Academy in London which focussed on group singing with students from 8-17 years.
In 2007 Gina designed a music project for children in hospital and their siblings. Singing Remedies taught music through creative music making and group singing activities and was aimed at children where illness prevented them from accessing music in main stream education. The project received full funding and took place at Evelina School in Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Future projects include a music and singing project for the elderly.
